The 58-C0181/C Controls Concrete Test Hammer, also known as a Schmidt hammer or rebound hammer,Italian brand, is a versatile and essential tool used in the field of civil engineering and construction to assess the compressive strength of concrete structures. This non-destructive testing device is widely utilized for quality control and evaluation of in-place concrete. Its robust design, accuracy, and ease of use make it a preferred choice for engineers, contractors, and inspectors.
The concrete test hammer is used to evaluate strength of hardened concrete in various parts of a built structure. It consists in an aluminum body, complete with carrying case, grinding stone and instruction manual. Italian brand Controls 58-C0181/C1 model is also complete with a traceable calibration certificate.
Operating Principle:
As the concrete hammer rod is pressed against the surface that is to be tested a spring is loaded. Whwn the rod has disappered inside the concrete hammer completely, a mass is automatically released the strikes the rod itself on the internal end and through the surface of the concrete. The rod reacts and re-transmits the rebound to the mass:The harder and the more compact the concrete, the greater the rebound.During the rebound stroke, the mass moves a pointer that indicates the maximum point of return and at the same time indicates a reference value on the scale. This number, when translated to the chart on the concrete hammer mechanical 58-C0181/C, gives the compression resistance value in respect of the impact angle.
USE:
When the test hammer is inside the carrying case, the plunger head is stored inside the housing. To eject the plunger, press the plunger head on any hard surface until it is released.
Prepare the test surface by removing. If necessary, the grout or plaster that covers the concrete surface with the carborundum store supplied with the concrete hammer.Rest the plunger head at right angles to the surface. For vertical surface use the hammer with the pinter ALWAYS UPWARD, also when used over the head. The rebound value will be read after the test pressing the button and rotating the hammer. Press the concrete hammer in a continuouse and even manner against the surface until the internal hammer strikes.Do not press push button under any circumstances when taking readings. The push-button is pressed to retain tre plunger in the housing on completion of testing.
After impact, the hammer rebounds moving a reference pointer with it; the harder the concrete the farther it will move. The pointer is fixed at the higest value reached by pressing the push-button: in this way it is easy to read the value on the graduated scale is then rreproduced on the chart on the test hammer and the concrete resistance
